This week we started our Shakespearean Drama project. My group is reading Macbeth, and I'm pretty excited because it's a play I've heard a lot about. We also watched the Sparknotes for it in class, so I know the whole story already. Because it's a tragedy, it feels like last trimester didn't end, and we're just continuing the same subject.
My group is discussing Macbeth as it relates to feminism, specifically feminist literary criticism. I am looking forward to learning more about this, as feminism is a large movement in society today. I feel that researching this movement on a literary level will help me understand it better as a whole.
Lastly, this week we read two poems, Sonnet 146 and Ozymandias. They were both about inevitable end, and how even the most powerful rulers or pleasure seekers will see an end at some point. They were both very well written, and reminded me of "To the Virgins, to make much of time".
Embedded above is an interview we watched about an actor's experience playing Macbeth.
